Big & Little Sisters

The Cheerios will be doing Big & Little Sisters this year.  This should be a friendship and mentoring role.  Big Sisters can offer advice and help with uniforms, cheers, and school work.  Little Sisters help encourage their Big Sisters, etc. The 7th grade squad is much larger than the 8th grade squad.  Many of the 8th graders will have two little sisters.
This is NOT about giving giant or expensive presents.  A little note of encouragement, a small candy,  cupcake, or handmade item would be awesome to give to your sister/s.  It would be appropriate to have a note or small treat each day of camp and then throughout football season, maybe each week.  No one should ever spend lots of money.  Please have about a $3 limit.

Cheer Camp!

It’s almost time for CHEER CAMP!  (Cheerleaders only, no mascots)

Please read the entire email!

Camp will be held at the middle school gym.  Please drop off and pick up by the gym. Come a few minutes early to stretch.  Please have your rides pick you up on time.  Universal Cheer Association, UCA, is conducting the camp and each girl will need to have the release  signed in order to participate.  Please print it and bring it with you on the first day.  If you don’t have a printer, have a parent come in and I will have blanks to fill out.  Please bring any other paperwork for the district physicals as well.  If you already turned them into another coach, that’s fine.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will be eating lunch together and taking care of Cheer business so you will not be able to leave and will need to bring your lunch.

The demerit/merit system will start on the first day of camp.  Please bring your positive attitudes & school spirit!  You may want to read it before you come.  Here is the link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TKt3cJbQKcHzd92JQ6qQp8cOPNki8uD4gLuF9-1hJ_E/edit?usp=sharing

UCA teams up to help St. Jude raise money for kids with cancer.  The camp instructors will talk about it and ask everyone to send out letters to raise money for St. Jude.  I believe they want each girl to have 5 addresses that they could send letters to.  Click this link for more info: http://www.varsity.com/event/article/2035/2792/2016-team-up-for-st-jude

Please make sure you are stretching and working out before camp.  Each day is full.  You will learn new cheers, dances, and stunts.  I have attached a sample camp schedule published by UCA.

Thursday, August 11, 8:00-9:00 am – Teacher Inservice *Cheerleaders & Mascot!
Mr. Barr has asked the Cheerios to lead a few cheers at the first teacher inservice on Thursday morning.

I am still working on the calendar for practices, games, and spirit days.  Hopefully, I will send it out next week.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

It would be really nice for the girls to do a couple fun activities together before school starts to help them bond; swim party, movies, bowling, etc.  (This would not be a school sponsored event.)  Either as the entire Cheer Team or by grade level.  If you would be interested in helping organize a Cheerio get-together, please let me know.

Have a great end of the summer!  Go Mustang Cheerios!
